In the height of the pandemic, at-the-elbow learning became very challenging and the impact on learning, specifically for those performing hands-on tasks, was significant.
Our client was looking for digital, restaurant eLearning that would prime the learner to perform hands-on tasks in a restaurant setting. This included tasks such as cooking French fries, building and wrapping beef sandwiches, and correctly dressing a hot dog.
Much of what needed to be learned involved hands-on tasks, so creating a restaurant eLearning experience that allowed learners to practice in a safe environment was key. By repeatedly building menu items in a controlled setting, learners not only reinforced their knowledge but also developed mental muscle memory—helping them perform tasks more efficiently and accurately in real-world scenarios.
The application-based learning experiences provided learners with hands-on practice, equipping them with the necessary skills to perform key tasks efficiently in a restaurant environment.
Drag-and-drop interactions enhanced learning by allowing learners to practice tasks in a low-risk, digital environment.
Learners engaged in realistic, hands-on scenarios—such as dressing a hot dog or wrapping a sandwich—that helped them identify key steps and red flags in restaurant workflows, preparing them for real-world challenges.
By completing interactive exercises, learners gained the confidence to perform essential tasks on the job while building mental muscle memory through repeated practice of menu item preparation.
The digital learning experience effectively prepared learners to handle a variety of situations in their restaurant roles.
